How does the treatment feel?

Many patients feel a warm, prickly sensation in the treatment area. Numbing creams can be used, if necessary, to reduce any discomfort you might feel.

How many treatments will I need?

Usually, 3 treatments are needed 4-6 weeks apart, but the total number of treatments will depend on the skin condition of the patient and how many areas need to be treated.

How long will it take to see the results?

The full benefit of these treatments are seen up to 3 months after the final treatment. Acne may require maintenance treatments every 6 months. You may notice improvements in the appearance of fine lines, pore size, sun damage or broken capillaries and skin texture within a few weeks of treatment.

How long do I need to wait between treatments?

We recommend waiting one month between treatments as this allows your body to construct more collagen and elastin matrix in the epidermal and dermal layers.

Is there any down time after the treatment?

The skin will have very tiny pinhole like marks, where the treatment occurred and the skin will have redness similar to a light sunburn. The skin is hot for 3 hours after the treatment, this will subside and the redness reduces within 24 hours. The small marks will show up as tiny micro scabs and can be covered with make-up. You can return to work the day after the treatment. Active exercise and heat needs to be avoided the day of the treatment.

How safe are the treatments?

Both are very safe. They have been tested in controlled clinical trials and has been shown to produce no serious side effects aside from some pain and redness, which calms down within a couple of days. There is no risk of scarring, infection, burns or changes in skin colour that can occur with lasers. This is the safest treatment for even the darkest skin types, as radiofrequency energy is “colour-blind”.
